Tree-Planting Initiative held in Lachin on the Occasion of Remembrance Day

On September 24, 2026, a tree-planting campaign was held in Lachin District on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of Remembrance Day.

The campaign, held at the initiative and organization of the Karabakh Revival Fund, was attended by Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lachin District; Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund; as well as the Fund's donors and partners, heads of state institutions operating in the district, and local residents.

The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland.

Speaking at the event, Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lachin District, noted that Remembrance Day is an important day expressing our people's respect for the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland. He noted that, alongside the reconstruction and development of Lachin, attention is also being paid to protecting the city's natural environment, expanding green spaces, and ensuring ecological balance.

In his remarks, Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, emphasized that keeping alive the cherished memory of our martyrs is a moral duty for each of us. According to him, this significant day not only honors the cherished memory of the martyrs who lost their lives for the territorial integrity of our Motherland, but also expresses the unity and solidarity of our people, their devotion to the Motherland, and their national will.

Rahman Hajiyev noted that the reconstruction and development process being carried out in the liberated territories under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, also encompasses environmental protection, the restoration of ecological balance, and the expansion of green spaces.

Emphasizing that preserving ecological balance and creating new green spaces in Garabagh is one of the Fund's priority areas of activity, Rahman Hajiyev stated that the tree-planting campaign held in Lachin, in addition to expressing respect for the memory of our martyrs, also serves to foster a healthier ecological environment in Lachin District.

Following the remarks, the tree-planting campaign got underway. As part of the campaign, Black pine, Linden, Ironwood, Red oak, Arizona cypress, Laurel, Oriental plane, Holm oak, and Golden thuja trees were planted with the aim of enriching Lachin's natural environment, expanding green belts, and improving the ecological condition of the area.
