"Night of Karabakh – Shusha" Charity Concert held in Shusha

On September 24, 2026, the charity concert "Night of Karabakh – Shusha" was held in the city of Shusha at the initiative and organization of the Karabakh Revival Fund, with the organizational support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Shusha City State Reserve.

Held within the framework of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival, the concert was attended by government officials, the Fund's donors and partners, figures from the cultural and artistic community, media representatives, and residents of Shusha.

At the opening ceremony of the event, organized as part of the 6th anniversary of Remembrance Day, the cherished memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland was honored with a minute of silence.

Delivering a welcoming address at the event, Tural Novruzov, Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve, first expressed his gratitude to the Karabakh Revival Fund and partner organizations for their contribution to organizing the "Night of Karabakh – Shusha" charity concert. Commending the holding of such a musical event in Shusha, he emphasized its significance in enriching the city's cultural life and preserving Shusha's musical traditions.

Noting that Shusha holds a special place in Azerbaijan's cultural and musical history, Tural Novruzov stated that holding such events in the city makes an important contribution to preserving its cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations. He particularly noted that holding the "Night of Karabakh" project in Shusha once again is one of the initiatives contributing to the city's cultural life.

Speaking at the event, Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, addressed the objectives and significance of the "Night of Karabakh" charity concert. According to him, alongside the reconstruction and development efforts being carried out in the liberated territories under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, reviving cultural life, preserving historical and cultural heritage, and keeping alive Garabagh's rich musical traditions are also of particular importance.

Rahman Hajiyev noted that holding the "Night of Karabakh" charity concert in Shusha has already become a tradition. Recalling that a Yamaha concert grand piano was presented as a gift to the city of Shusha during the concert first held there in 2024, the Chairman of the Executive Board emphasized that this instrument, by creating new opportunities for concerts and other cultural events in Shusha, continues to make its own contribution to the city's cultural life.

Rahman Hajiyev stated that the support shown by the Fund's donors and partners in organizing and implementing the "Night of Karabakh" charity concerts, held six times to date, is of particular importance, describing it as a manifestation of unity and solidarity for the sake of Garabagh's revival.

People's Artist, Rector of the Baku Music Academy, and member of the Supervisory Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund Farhad Badalbeyli also delivered a speech, discussing the significance of the "Night of Karabakh" project and noting Shusha's special place in Azerbaijan's musical and cultural history.

Following the speeches, the event continued with an artistic programme featuring performances of works from Azerbaijani and world music by renowned musicians. Conducted by Mustafa Mehmandarov, the concert featured People's Artists Farhad Badalbeyli (piano) and Yegana Akhundova (piano), Honored Artist Emil Afrasiyab (piano), and soloists Nazrin Aslanli (violin), Mahir Tagizade, Aysun Mahmudzade, and Sabina Asadova, who presented the audience with unforgettable musical moments.

It should be recalled that on September 23, as part of the 6th anniversary of Remembrance Day, during the "Night of Karabakh – Lachin" charity concert organized in Lachin, the Karabakh Revival Fund also presented the city of Lachin with a Yamaha concert grand piano as a gift.
