Azerbaijan’s “Gilavar Photo Club” Public Union held another exhibition in Milan, Italy, on October 21, 2026, as part of its “World Without Mines” international campaign across Europe.
Visitors were informed that although the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has ended, mines planted during the occupation continue to endanger civilians and undermine lasting peace. Armenia must fulfill its obligations to Azerbaijan and hand over accurate minefield maps. The event attracted considerable interest.
As part of the campaign, a series of photo exhibitions was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 5; Brno, the Czech Republic, on October 7; Ljubljana, Slovenia, on October 9; Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on October 11; Zagreb, Croatia, on October 13; Salzburg, Austria, on October 15; and Rome, Italy, on October 17, 2026.
The “Gilavar Photo Club” Public Union is a 2026 winner of the “Initiatives on the Problem of Mines and Unexploded Ordnance” grant competition, jointly announced by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF), in partnership with ANAMA.
It should be recalled that Azerbaijani families of missing persons have also begun protests against Armenia across Europe, organized by the “Karabakh Missing Families” Public Union.
A group of Azerbaijani families of missing persons staged protests in Brussels, the capital of the Kingdom of Belgium, outside the European Parliament on October 20, 2026, and in Schuman Square on October 21.
It was noted that 4,010 Azerbaijanis went missing during Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani territories. They included 71 children, 288 women, and 319 elderly people. Each figure represents a human life and questions that remain unanswered. Mines have been found in settlements and cemeteries in the liberated territories, and even around mass graves where the remains of some missing persons have been discovered. Clarifying the fate of missing persons is particularly important as the peace agenda moves forward.
