On July 07, 2022, Rahman Hajıyev, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, held a meeting with the representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) who were visiting our country.
During the meeting, Rahman Hajıyev, along with Hassan Partou, an expert from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Mahir Aliyev, the Regional Coordinator of UNEP's European Office, Anvar Abdullah Saadun, a specialist in construction waste management, and Faig Mütsllimov, the Director of the Environmental Policy Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, discussed various topics.
Welcoming the guests, Rahman Hajıyev provided detailed information about the establishment, main goals, objectives, mission, priorities, as well as the implemented and current projects of the Karabakh Revival Fund. He also discussed the main challenges and emerging realities following the historic victory of the victorious Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander, President Ilham Aliyev.
Highlighting the restoration of ecological balance as one of the Fund's main priorities, Rahman Hajıyev provided detailed information about the "From Victory to Revival" project, which involves the release of the Zangilan forest massif within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
During his speech, Rahman Hajıyev emphasized the significant role of promotional events, such as the "Plant a Tree" campaign, aimed at encouraging active participation of every member of society in the process of nature restoration and revival in the liberated territories of Karabakh. Furthermore, Rahman Hajıyev elaborated on the detailed information regarding the "Fuzuli Central Park" project, envisaged to be created with the financial support of the Fund in Fuzuli city.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet and for the detailed information provided, Hassan Partou, the expert from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), expressed his appreciation.
During the meeting, Hassan Partou specifically addressed the issue of restoring the existing damages in the liberated territories, emphasizing proposals for reusing the damages in the construction process, which could lead to cost reduction and ecological stability preservation.
The representatives of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) exchanged views on the topics highlighted during the meeting and discussed potential partnership perspectives within the framework of these and other ecological projects.In conclusion, Rahman Hajıyev expressed his gratitude to the delegation for their interest in the restoration of infrastructure and the environment in Karabakh, as well as for sharing their experiences and ideas.
