Following the glorious victory of our victorious army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander Ilham Aliyev, the restoration and reconstruction of our historical monuments, including statues of prominent figures, have begun in the liberated territories from occupation.
The statues being reconstructed also include one of the world-renowned composer, eminent musician, and public figure, the founder of modern Azerbaijani professional music and national opera, Uzeir Hajibeyli.
The bronze statue commissioned by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been reinstalled in its original location in the city of Shusha. The opening ceremony of the statue, which began reconstruction on December 1, 2020, took place on August 29, 2021. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the First Lady, Mehriban Aliyeva, attended the opening ceremony.
It should be noted that all expenses required for the reconstruction of the monument were covered by the financial support of the Karabakh Revival Fund.
Recall that the statue of Uzeir Hajibeyli, built in Shusha in 1985 on the occasion of the composer's 100th anniversary, was completely destroyed as a result of Armenian vandalism during the First Karabakh War.
Since there was no remaining model of the statue, the new monument was created based on photos published in the media and archived from that period. The new statue, with a height of 3.2 meters, was crafted by sculptors Aslan Rustamov, Teymur Rustamov and Mahmud Rustamov.
The world-renowned composer Uzeir Hajibeyli was born on September 18, 1885, in the village of Agjabadi in Shusha. He spent his childhood in Shusha, known as the "Conservatory of the Caucasus". The beautiful nature of Shusha and its rich cultural environment greatly influenced the development of his musical talent.
By the decree of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the composer's birthday, September 18, has been celebrated as Azerbaijan's National Music Day since 1995.
