The official opening and draw ceremony of the “Revival Cup” charity mini-football tournament, organized by the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF) and sponsored by Veyseloglu Group of Companies, took place on September 20.

Representatives from state institutions, companies, the football community, as well as KRF’s donors and partners, renowned athletes, and journalists attended the event. The ceremony began with a presentation video showcasing the tournament’s objectives.

Rəhman Hacıyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of Karabakh Revival Fund, gave a speech detailing the tournament’s goals. He emphasized that the “Revival Cup” was organized to support the restoration of Karabakh, promote philanthropy, encourage the development of football, and advocate for a healthy lifestyle. He also highlighted the significant reconstruction efforts in the liberated areas following Azerbaijan’s victory in the Patriotic War, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

The event also featured speeches by Aydın Talıbov, CEO of Veyseloglu Group, Osman Karakuş, Chairman of the Executive Board of “Azerlotereya” OPJSC, and Gara Garayev, a well-known footballer and the tournament’s ambassador. They expressed confidence in the successful organization of the tournament and its positive impact.

Special plaques and “Certificate of Appreciation” were presented to sponsors and partners who supported the event, while Gara Garayev received a special badge as the official ambassador of the tournament.

The draw divided the 40 participating teams into four groups, each consisting of 10 teams. The tournament’s official website, www.Revivalcup.az, was introduced, where participants and fans can access the schedule and other relevant details starting from September 23.

The tournament, organized with the support of the Azerbaijan Football Federations Association (AFFA) and media partner “CBC Sport,” will continue for several months, with teams from state institutions and companies competing.

A total of 148,500 AZN was raised through the tournament, including 50,000 AZN from Veysəloğlu Group, 40,000 AZN from “Azərlotereya” ASC, and 58,500 AZN from the participating teams. The funds will be directed toward the construction of sports fields in the Fuzuli Central Park, located in the liberated city of Fuzuli.

By participating in the tournament, the teams not only compete but also contribute to the restoration of Karabakh.
