Fuzuli City Day Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm

Two years ago, after long-term occupation, the city of Fuzuli once again opened its doors to its native residents, and this year it also celebrated City Day with great enthusiasm.

On October 17, numerous residents of the city of Fuzuli, state officials, and well-known public representatives actively took part in the events organised on the occasion of this significant day.

The festive events were jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, the Special Representative Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, and the Karabakh Revival Fund.

Within the framework of a series of events, the play Puss in Boots was presented for children by the Fuzuli State Drama Theatre at Secondary School No. 1 named after Mirza Ulugh Beg.

At the Children’s Creativity Centre named after Kurmangazy, a photo exhibition entitled Spirit of Victory and master classes in fine arts were held. In the park located in the 1st residential quarter of Fuzuli city, a concert programme was organised with the participation of cultural and artistic figures.

The programme began with Jangi, a piece by the great composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli, whose 140th anniversary of birth is celebrated at the state level this year, performed by the Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikrat Amirov.

Then, Honoured Artists Nizami Abdullayev, Anar Shushali, and Ehtiram Huseynov, as well as soloists Vafa Vezirova, Murad Arif, Sabina Arabli, Eldeniz Mammadov, Konul Tagiyeva, and Gunay Ibrahimli, delighted the audience with folk and composed songs.

Several folk dances presented by the Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble were greeted with applause. Young athletes demonstrated their skills in the square.

After the concert programme, magnificent fireworks lit up the sky of Fuzuli, giving unforgettable moments to the residents of the city.

It should be reminded that the city of Fuzuli was liberated from occupation on October 17, 2020, during the 44-day Patriotic War. Based on the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 31, 2023, On the establishment of city days for the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, October 17 is solemnly celebrated every year as Fuzuli City Day.
