It should be noted that landmines and other explosive remnants of war kill and injure thousands of people around the world every month. This problem, which is also relevant in our country, is a consequence of Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan.

According to preliminary estimates, more than 1.5 million mines were planted in our lands during the occupation. From the end of the Second Karabakh War until October 7, 2023, a total of 331 people have been affected by mine incidents in the liberated territories of our country. Of these, 64 people were killed, including 49 civilians and 15 military personnel, and 267 were injured, including 103 civilians and 164 military personnel.

In total, from 1991 to October 7, 2023, 3,410 people, including 357 children and 38 women, were killed or injured by landmine explosions.

At an international conference on " Mine Action – The Path to Reaching Sustainable Development Goals" held in Baku on May 26, 2023, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, emphasized the high priority of solving this problem.

" Azerbaijan views demining efforts as directly related to sustainable and lasting development, considering the enormous impact of demined territories on the welfare and progress of our people and their significance in a broader perspective for our country’s development. That is why humanitarian demining is officially declared the 18th National Sustainable Development Goal in Azerbaijan....," stated the head of state.

It should be noted that mine and unexploded ordnance clearance operations are currently being carried out non-stop to carry out extensive construction work in the territories liberated as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War. Therefore, in addition to financial resources, technical means are also needed for the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories.

With the support of partners and donors, the Karabakh Revival Fund provides the necessary technical means and other necessary equipment for the implementation of projects in Karabakh.

Currently, this equipment is being used in the restoration and construction work being carried out in the liberated territories.

The Karabakh Revival Fund expresses gratitude to all partners who donate both financial resources and equipment for the restoration of the liberated territories and invites everyone to support the organization of restoration and reconstruction work in the liberated territories and the improvement of social and economic well-being.
