The meeting opened with a statement by the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF) Rahman Hajiyev, who noted that along with the extensive construction works carried out in the liberated territories, significant steps are being taken towards restoring ecological balance. All of these efforts also encompass the Fuzuli region.

Based on the new Master Plan of Fuzuli city, a multifunctional central park is planned to meet the demand for mass recreation of the population settling there. The establishment of the park will not only contribute to the restoration of ecological balance but also create favorable conditions for the efficient use of leisure time for city residents and the preservation of a healthy and natural ecological environment.

Additionally, the park area will include recreation and picnic areas, open green spaces, an amphitheater, cafe-restaurants, etc., along with facilities for various age groups to engage in sports activities, including pedestrian and bicycle paths, mini football and multifunctional sports fields, and sports facilities catering to the needs of the elderly or those with limited physical abilities.

According to the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund’s remarks, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of creating conditions for people to engage in sports activities in newly created parks in the regions during his speech at the 2022 sports results dedication ceremony.

President Ilham Aliyev stated the following in his address: "When it comes to the massiveness of sports, I believe that outreach in the regions should be expanded. Recently, we have created conditions for outdoor sports activities, including installing equipment in several parks in Baku. I think we should extend this experience to all regions and implement it there.

The Ministry and local executive bodies should take this matter seriously. Because not every person has the time or financial means to go to sports halls. Therefore, providing opportunities for outdoor sports activities - considering that the weather conditions are mostly favorable throughout Azerbaijan - will have a significant impact, both for people's health and for the overall development of sports. That's why I believe there is a great need for it."

Rahman Hajiyev emphasized that the purpose of the meeting was to take into account the interests and expectations of various representatives of society in creating sports infrastructure in the Fuzuli Central Park, ensuring comfortable and high-quality conditions for people of different backgrounds, including the elderly and those with physical limitations, to engage in sports activities.

Huseyn Medgalchi the director “By Medgalchi” LTD and the project leader, provided extensive information to the meeting participants about the sports infrastructure to be created in Fuzuli Central Park. It was noted that the project aims to create various sports facilities covering an area of 22.4 hectares, including pedestrian, running and cycling paths, mini football and multifunctional sports fields, sports facilities catering to the needs of the elderly or those with physical limitations and various purpose-built sports facilities.

Participants who were familiarized with the pre-conceptual design of Fuzuli Central Park, including the directors of the Youth and Sports Ministry's departments Elnur Mammadov and Elmir Mehdiyev, the Secretary-General of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation Elnara Musayeva, and the founder of the Baku Marathon Club Firdovsi Karimov, among others, expressed their views and suggestions on the subject.

They positively assessed the inclusion of international best practices in the development of the park, emphasizing the importance of drawing on approaches and solutions used in the world's most renowned parks.

After over two hours of discussion, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund Rahman Hajiyev, thanked the participants for their ideas and suggestions. It was noted that similar meetings with relevant stakeholders will continue in connection with the development of Fuzuli Central Park.

It's worth noting that the project is being implemented upon the request of the Karabakh Revival Fund.
