Meeting Held Between Karabakh Revival Fund and the Board Members of the Azerbaijan Banks Association
On September 8, 2021, a meeting took place between the Karabakh Revival Fund and the Board Members of the Azerbaijan Banks Association.
Present at the meeting were the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, member of the Supervisory Board, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov, Chairman of the Board of the Fund Rahman Haciyev, President of the Azerbaijan Banks Association Zakir Nuriyev, as well as members of the Board of Directors of the ABA and representatives of the banking sector.
During the event, speeches were delivered by Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Chairman of the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund Rahman Hajiyev, and President of the Azerbaijan Banks Association Zakir Nuriyev. Following the speeches, a question-and-answer session was held, and discussions were conducted.
During the meeting, a documentary film titled "Urbicide in Karabakh" was screened, depicting destroyed buildings and devastated historical monuments.
Throughout the discussions, the importance of expanding cooperation with existing donors, developing public-private sector partnerships, engaging the financial and banking sectors along with various segments of society, and attracting potential donors to the process were emphasized.
It was announced during the event that a Memorandum of Understanding between the Karabakh Revival Fund and the Azerbaijan Banks Association would be signed in the near future. Additionally, it was decided to establish working groups for the implementation of joint projects between the Karabakh Revival Fund and the Azerbaijan Banks Association.
At the end of the event, special "Donation Certificates" were presented to donor banks from the banking sector to support the work carried out in the liberated territories.
It is worth noting that the following banks participated in the meeting and collectively donated 2,550,000 AZN to the Karabakh Revival Fund: PASHA Bank OSJC, Kapital Bank OSJC, Bank Respublika OSJC, Khalq Bank OSJC, Unibank OSJC, Ziraat Bank OSJC, Rabitəbank OSJC, Bank of Baku OSJC, Gunay Bank OSJC, Muganbank OSJC, Turanbank OSJC, Yelobank OSJC, Expressbank OSJC, Aqrarkredit CSJC, and Azər-Türk Bank OSJC. The Karabakh Revival Fund, established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a public legal entity engaged in providing financial support and attracting investments for the restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories, transforming them into a sustainable and prosperous region, and developing public-private partnerships in this area, as well as implementing necessary promotional activities domestically and internationally.
