Pursuant to the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr Ilham Aliyev, relevant measures are being implemented to establish the Occupation and Victory Museums complexes in the districts and cities liberated from occupation.
The purpose of creating these museum complexes is to provide a vivid demonstration of the vandalism inflicted upon our lands during the enemy occupation, and to immortalise in the memory of present and future generations the magnificent Victory won by the Azerbaijani people in the 44-day Patriotic War through high fighting spirit and unparalleled heroism. At the same time, these complexes will become advocacy and information centres that convey Azerbaijan’s just voice to the world.
In accordance with the “First State Programme on the Great Return to the Liberated Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, one of such museum complexes will be established in the city of Shusha. In particular, at the request of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the establishment of the Occupation Museum in Shusha is envisaged.
Within the framework of the project, and with the financial support of the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF), the preparation of the relevant design-and-estimate documentation for the construction works of the said museum complex, as well as the development of the museum content, is ongoing.
The design of the museum complex has already been completed; foreign and local experts and historians have been engaged for content development; photo and video shoots have been carried out; and an electronic database has been created to host and manage the collected content.
Within the framework of the project, the implementation of the following works has been ensured:
- Conducting relevant research activities within the complex area;
- Preparing design (planning) guidelines (project overview) based on the approved concept design;
- Researching and collecting historical information and content for the museums;
- Developing a creative approach and preparing narratives/texts for each theme throughout the museum exhibitions;
- Implementing the content and producing multimedia materials;
- Developing graphic design and producing offline content for signage boards for the Memorial Park area.
