On June 21, 2022, a business meeting titled "Revival of Karabakh - Current Challenges and New Opportunities" was held in the city of Shusha, organized jointly by the Karabakh Revival Fund and the Association of Azerbaijani Banks.
The meeting was attended by Aydin Karimov the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha district, Rahman Hajiyev the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, Meftun Abbasov the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Shusha City State Reserve Department, Zakir Nuriyev the President of the Association of Azerbaijani Banks, a representative of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, leaders of the country's leading banks, representatives of Visa, Mastercard, MilliKart LLC, Azerbaijan Credit Bureau LLC, representatives of the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones, and the regional head of the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector in Europe and the CIS countries.
Welcoming the guests at the event, Aydin Karimov, Meftun Abbasov, Rahman Hajiyev and Zakir Nuriyev emphasized the importance of such meetings in promoting investment potential in Karabakh, as well as the development and promotion of public-private partnerships in the liberated territories. During his speech, Aydin Kerimov the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Shusha region, emphasized that Shusha has become a vital venue for both local and international events in Karabakh. He then provided detailed information to the participants of the event about the current activities being carried out in Shusha.
Meftun Abbasov the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Shusha City State Reserve Department, noted that in accordance with the relevant instructions of the state leadership, restoration works, as well as construction of modern infrastructure and buildings and restoration of the historical appearance of the city, are being carried out in Shusha. M.Abbasov emphasized that the selection of Shusha as the cultural capital of Azerbaijan and the Turkic world, the signing of the Shusha Declaration, the holding of the Fifth World Azerbaijanis Congress and a number of other local and international events in Shusha are clear examples of the President's attention and care for Shusha.
Rahman Hajiyev, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, stressed the importance of the joint organization of this event by the Foundation and the Association of Azerbaijani Banks in stimulating public-private sector partnership, attracting finance and banking sectors along with various segments of society to the process of restoration and reconstruction of Karabakh, and conducting discussions on the analysis of investment potential and execution mechanisms.
Speaking about the historical victory of the Victorious Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the new realities emerging as a result of the magnificent victory after 30 years, Rahman Hajiyev stated that the restoration and construction works carried out in Shusha demonstrate that normal life will be restored in these territories in a short time. He emphasized that increasing social welfare and stimulating business opportunities by utilizing the rich economic potential of these territories are among the main priority directions.
Zakir Nuriyev, the President of the Association of Azerbaijani Banks, mentioned that discussions have begun on the restoration of the financial-banking system in our liberated territories, and work is underway to prepare the proposal plan. He added that today's meeting is a good platform for discussing the provision of financial-banking services in the liberated territories and the role of banks in stimulating business opportunities.
During the discussions, proposals were made by bank leaders regarding the continuation of public-private sector partnership and joint activities in Shusha and Karabakh with the participation of the Karabakh Revival Foundation and the Association of Azerbaijani Banks. At the same time, bank representatives expressed their intention to support infrastructure projects, conservation and restoration projects of cultural, historical, and religious monuments in Shusha.
At the end of the meeting, Rahman Hajiyev, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Foundation, presented the "Donation Certificate" to "Azerbaijan Industrial Bank" ASC and "Nakhchivanbank" ASC for their significant contributions to the mission of Karabakh's revival. Additionally, the Association of Azerbaijani Banks was presented with a "Certificate of Thanks" for its support in organizing the meeting on the topic "Revival of Karabakh - Current Challenges and New Opportunities".
It should be noted that "Azerbaijan Industrial Bank" ASC donated 100,000 manats, and "Nakhchivanbank" ASC donated 55,000 manats to the Foundation.
After the event, a tour was organized for the participants to familiarize themselves with the historical and cultural objects of Shusha.
