On October 8, 2021, a meeting was held between the Karabakh Revival Fund and non-governmental organizations working in the field of ecology to discuss the elimination of environmental damage in Karabakh and the restoration of ecological balance.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, Member of the Supervisory Board of the State Support Agency for NGO Azer Allahveranov, Executive Director of IDEA Public Union Surkhay Shukurov, Responsible Person of the Department of Environmental Management and Regulation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Murad Shahverdiyev, as well as representatives of environmental organizations.
During the event, Vugar Karimov Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Azer Allahveranov Member of the Supervisory Board of the State Support Agency for NGO, Surkhay Shukurov Executive Director of IDEA Public Union, Murad Shahverdiyev Responsible Person of the Department of Environmental Management and Regulation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Aybaniz Ismayilova Director of the Fundraising and Communication Department of the Karabakh Revival Fund, made speeches on topics such as the ecocide perpetrated as a result of Armenian aggression, the role of the public in ensuring ecological balance, and other issues.
The participants of the event discussing the destruction of a significant portion of the fauna and flora listed in the "Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan" prior to the occupation called on all environmental organizations, as well as all members of society, to join the Karabakh Revival Fund's initiative "Let's Make Karabakh Greener" for the restoration of forests, endemic flora and fauna, planting of indigenous tree species, and elimination of ecological terrorism.
At the end of the event, a question-and-answer session was held moderated by Parvin Mammadova, the Coordinator of PR and Communication for the Fund.
During the discussions, alongside the restoration of forests in the liberated territories, special attention was paid to preserving the roots of trees and vegetation cover of soil reserves, preventing erosion and landslides, as well as maintaining water retention and quality along rivers and riverbank areas.
Regardless of their place of residence, it is crucial for every compatriot to donate to the Karabakh Revival Fund for the greening of the liberated territories and to join the Fund's initiatives in this direction. Most importantly, the trees planted within this initiative will symbolize our unity in supporting Karabakh's continuous future.
