A symposium titled "Projects for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage Monuments in Liberated Territories: Goals, Challenges, Characteristics, Perspectives" was held on December 13 at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
Addressing the event, Anar Alekberov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, stated that following the liberation of our territories under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, a comprehensive program for restoration and reconstruction works has been initiated.
In addition to infrastructure projects, extensive efforts are underway for the inventory, preservation, and restoration of historical and cultural monuments in the region. "First Vice-President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva announced the launch of the project for the restoration of cultural and religious monuments and mosques in the liberated territories by the Foundation on December 8, 2020. This demonstrates the Foundation's support for projects implemented by the state as a member of civil society.
The President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, initiated the project with the participation of local experts as well as invited foreign experts.
Experts from Austria, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Italy, Latvia, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, and other countries have been engaged for the restoration process," said Anar Alekberov. Rahman Haciyev, The Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, emphasized that the restoration of our historical heritage in Karabakh is one of the Fund's main priorities.
He noted the close collaboration between the Karabakh Revival Fund and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, emphasizing that this partnership will be long-term and not limited to current projects.
"The Heydar Aliyev Foundation adopts an inclusive approach and engages both local and foreign companies in restoration works. This is highly significant because the cultural heritage of Karabakh is not only part of Azerbaijani culture but also part of world cultural heritage. We applaud this approach and believe that other institutions can also implement it in their work.
