1st International Scientific-Practical Conference on "Building a New Economy in Karabakh: Development impulses from Aghdam"

In September 2021, an international scientific-practical conference on the topic "New Economic Foundation in Karabakh: Development Impulses from Agdam" was held in the city of Agdam.

Considering the significance of the conference, its materials have been published in the form of a book. The book, published on the occasion of the conference anniversary, includes a letter from the participants of the conference to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, a congratulatory letter from the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, opening speeches from the heads of organizing institutions, and presentations and articles by conference participants in three languages ​​- Azerbaijani, English, and Russian.

It should be noted that the aforementioned conference was organized by the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the Agdam region, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Karabakh Revival Fund, and the Institute of Economics of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The main purpose of both the conference and the book prepared based on its materials is to stimulate socio-economic research related to the restoration, reconstruction, and development of Karabakh, especially Agdam, in the short, medium, and long term, and to further engage the scientific community of our country in research on these issues.

During the two-day conference, which covered the liberated territories of Karabakh (with the exception of the Shusha region), participants such as Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahib Alekberov, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, Nazim Muzaffarli, Director of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, Adalat Muradov, Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, and professors from various universities and researchers from Europe, the USA, and Turkey, exchanged views on various topics.

More than 100 scientific articles were presented at the conference, focusing on topics such as the new economic foundation in Karabakh, the importance of economic research by economists, natural resources and green energy potential of Karabakh, the issue of return of internally displaced persons to Agdam and other regions of Karabakh, and other related issues.
